Zovo Paper Finder
Literature lists with real citation counts and Zotero-ready files.
Find research papers on a topic from Crossref, the DOI registry of scholarly publishers, see citation counts and open-access links from Unpaywall, rank a paper's references, and download BibTeX, RIS, CSV and a PDF reading list.
What it does
- Topic search with year, citation and open-access filters
- Most-cited references of one DOI and its citation count
- APA, MLA, Chicago and IEEE reference lists from DOIs
- BibTeX and RIS files that import into Zotero, EndNote and Mendeley
- CSV and PDF reading lists

“Find the 20 most-cited papers on CRISPR off-target effects from 2018 to 2022 with a BibTeX file”
“Format these DOIs in APA: 10.1038/nature14539, 10.1038/s41592-018-0011-5”
Limitations
- Records and citation counts come from Crossref (https://www.crossref.org/documentation/retrieve-metadata/rest-api/); coverage follows what publishers deposit, and Crossref counts differ from Google Scholar or Scopus.
- Open-access links come from Unpaywall (https://unpaywall.org/products/api) for the top results of each list; other rows show "not checked".
- Topic search is Crossref relevance search over the 200 most relevant works (plus the 200 most-cited works matching the words when sorting by citations); works whose title holds all the topic words rank first. It is not a systematic review.
- Crossref covers DOIs registered by publishers; arXiv preprints (DataCite DOIs) and conference papers without a Crossref DOI (for example NeurIPS and ICLR) are not included.
- For one paper the tool lists its references as the publisher deposited them and gives the citation count; Crossref does not publish which works cite a paper, so that list is not shown.
- Author names follow the publisher's deposit; check names before submission.
- Search results are cached for up to 24 hours.
- When a source is slow or limits requests, the tool says so and returns no invented data.
